Mortuary Monday
Hello Funeral Bosses! it's Mortuary Monday!
Each Monday we will share a story about a death care worker, mortuary student or Funeral Boss brand ambassador. Knowing each other better is sure to bring us all a little closer. This week we are featuring licensed funeral director/embalmer Kori Martin!
How did you get into the Death Care Industry? "As a very young child, I was interested in the human body, but never its function, so I knew I didn’t want to be a doctor or nurse. When I was about 12 years old I learned what a funeral director was and what embalming is and that’s when I decided it was the job for me! I never strayed from my dream of becoming a funeral director. I went to college for mortuary science right out of high school and became a licensed director/embalmer in 2018."
What is one of your goals? "One of the goals I’ve had since high school is to become a trade embalmer traveling across northern Wisconsin. So many directors don’t take the proper time or effort into preparing decedents causing the cremation rate to increase. All too often I hear somebody being “unviewable” when a decedent just needs somebody to care for them properly. My backup goal is to become a county coroner in my retirement.
